Banksy – The UK Graffiti Artist
Been a lot of buzz about an old but only just released Banksy image. In case you’re not aware Banksy is the famous graffiti artist from Bristol in the UK.
Armoured Peace Dove – it can be found on a wall in Palestine - This wall marks the spot where over 40 people were killed during the first Intafada (the little holes along the top are from bullets).
While Banksy was painting it a lot of people came over, some to shake his hand and others telling him to go away. Soon the local MP was called out to calm down the eighty-strong crowd that had built up (by which time Banksy had left and the piece was completed by the local kids). Its a volley image but very haunting. Works well as a Full Colour Banksy T Shirt - if the design is well reproduced.
The recent exhibition in Bristol was a huge success and got everyone talking about the enigma that is Banksy and it looks like his popularity is not waning anytime soon.
The exhibition saw some great new images on display including a controversial one of a woman in traditional Islamic dress wearing an apron showing a semi naked body holding a pan of eggs – How do you like your eggs ? Also one of a rather large couple being pulled by a child in a rickshaw – once again its Banksy commenting on the capitalist world in his own unique way.
Indeed there is an image of people queuing to buy a t shirt that says destroy capitalism – he did this in Los Angeles and it was part of an exhibition called barely Legal.
A Brief History of the Tricorn Hat
Tricorn hats, also called Cavalier hat, is a style of hat that was popular during the late 17th century and 18th century, falling out of style shortly before the French Revolution. At the peak of its popularity, the Tricorne hat was worn as civilian dress and as part of military and naval uniforms. Its distinguishing characteristic was a practical one, the turned up portions of the brim formed gutters that directed rainwater away from the wearers face, depositing most of it over his shoulders. Before the invention of specialized rain gear, this was a distinct advantage.
The black colored Cavalier hat has a rather broad brim, pinned up on either side of the head and at the back, producing a triangular shape. The hat was typically worn with the point facing forward, though it was not at all unusual for soldiers, who would often rest a rifle or musket on their left shoulder, to wear the Tricorn hat pointed to the left to allow better clearance. The crown is low, unlike the steeple hats worn by the Puritans or the top hat of the nineteenth century.
Tricorne hats ranged from the very simple and cheap to the extravagant, occasionally incorporating gold or silver lace trimming and feathers. In addition, military and naval versions usually bore a cockade or other national emblem at the front. The Tricorn hat later evolved into the bicorne and eventually the cocked hat.
Cavaliers hats survive today as part of the traditional dress of the Chelsea Pensioners, the Guardia Civil and the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps of the United States Army.

Work Out Or Tucking In
Carla and I are going super hard to work matters better in each of our lives. When my third spousal relationship ended, (and let’s just say it “ended,” mmm’kay?) I just knew it was time to realize a shift. And not only some shift, I’m talkin’ a heavy change, honey.
Yet it just looks like everybody wants to keep me out. Life is so difficult, isn’t it?
