Midlife Crisis Alert: Rapidly Acquiring A Classic Mustang
So I have not had time to speak on my weblog nearly as often as I had expected, because of all the time I have been running around town with my Dad with his wild & crazy midlife crisis. Okay, you might think it’s not as crazy as it might be. Basically the way he played it out was he got all done up like fonzie, and storm over to my house and casually inform me, in his “coolest” tone of voice: “Get in, bro, we’re out cruising for some classic Mustang sales. You heard that right, youngster, I’m going to get one of my own.”
Next thing I know him and me were on our way to a couple of those wild classic car showrooms that I’m always pretty much convinced the mob owns and operates, and I witness the old man wrote a check within just a few minutes, for an alarmingly gleaming classic Ford Mustang. I have to admit, it’s an impressive machine. It had a great sound as well.
There’s a reason why I wrote that in a past tense. It sounded amazing right until it became silent. My pops says that it’s a really easy problem and he just needs to find the right part. I’m thinking, it is not as painless to pick up 1965 Mustang parts as it was some 30 years ago, but my pop tells me there’s a pretty good-sized aftermarket for them to this day. It seems like the the easiest way to find parts for 1969 Mustangs is through online auctions, since you can get them rebuilt and occasionally even brand new. They might not be cheap, though… After all, they are ancient car parts.
Could be worse, though… It would’ve been worse if he’d bought himself a harley.
